Why synchronized shows are possible
Every Tesla sets its clock from the network, so two cars a continent apart agree on the time to within a fraction of a second. A light show command carries a start time; give every car the same one and they fire together. The music stays in sync because each car plays its own audio file from the same instant.
The old way (and why it breaks)
Before fleet tools, groups synced shows by countdown: everyone in their car, finger on the screen, "three, two, one." Results varied by a second or two, one car always played the wrong song, and anything beyond a handful of cars became a project.
How Orchestrator runs a fleet
- The director creates a show and gets a QR code and show code.
- Owners join by scanning the QR: Tesla's own sign-in, approve a key, confirm the preloaded-show count, and Test my car, which plays a short test and verifies the setup on their phone.
